About MCIS

The Mofid Centre for Islamic Studies has been established to study and interpret Islam in such a way as to help bridge the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims in North America. It has the following specific goals:

  • To advance education by providing well researched and scholarly interpretations of the Koran and Sunnah (Islamic Tradition) which help Muslims living in North America to make connections with western, non-Muslim society and to live comfortably in that culture.
  • To advance education by helping Muslims and their communities learn how to relate to other cultures while retaining their Muslim identity.
  • To advance education by educating youths and talented seminary students as imams in accordance with appropriate provincial regulations and processes so that they can disseminate moderate interpretations of the Koran and Sunnah based on the research carried out by the Mofid Centre for Islamic Studies and other scholarly institutions.
